"When you find your passion and put your heart into it, there is power in that. With God’s help, there is power to initiate change, power to influence, power to lift someone up, power to show that life is worth living and celebrating, power to show that you CAN overcome adversity, power to show that you are worthy, you are special and you are filled with gifts and skills that should be put out there for the world to see; even if it is just your own small slice of the world."
This is what Kim Lengling wrote about when she was faced with the task of coming up what sort of super hero she would be.
It started out as a picture shared on Facebook between a group of friends (nearly all women, well except for me and maybe two other guys)
The image depicted a woman dressed in a batman costume sitting back chilling with a glass of wine.
It was Shared by Paula Harakal Lynch. She wrote: Sooo tired... A cup of tea and bed for me... But a superhero we moms must be.. — feeling exhausted.
A few comments later and a suggestion we actually photograph these local strong woman as their own personal super hero and we were off.
Kim Lengling was the first to order her costume and we now have our first local strong super hero and her story.
"I chose my Super Hero uniform because I believe in America; I believe what it stands for and what our forefathers had the courage to risk their lives for. I believe in and support our active duty military as well as our veterans from all eras.
I believe there is a “super hero” in all of us. Whether that power is teaching children, ministering, mentoring, being a single parent, a social worker, a nurse, a doctor, a neighbor, a photographer, a friend, a volunteer for a cause that you are passionate about, and so many more examples too numerous to list.
So I thought, Super Hero? I think I’ll be Ms. Captain America?"
