We all have our lives to live and we all muddle through what we have. Each of us has different things going on in our minds and bodies - though we all have similarities, we are all unique.
Our stories are our own and no one else.
In the past couple days I made a few photos as we draw closer to the Memorial Day weekend. I will attend a couple events on Monday for the paper and there will be people there at both events but here is what I'm likely to see: on this national day of remembrance, with the little more than 50,000 people in Venango County, there will probably be a hundred or two participating in the services and perhaps a thousand or two at most going to watch the parade.
Some people remember differently for sure, but how many more just don't really care?
I know I handle respect differently than most. I treat my respect for what people have done to progress culture to this point and time I am alive the same way I show my respect to a creator if there is one...I do what I do the best I can. I was put here, or found my way here, or was guided here to make pictures and tell stories...to observe what is around me and look for the little things that go unnoticed, but if given the chance of reflection have so much meaning.
I'm not going to say what either of these photos are other than both are from people showing respect for the Memorial Day observance we are currently in the midst of and will be fully observed Monday. But I think if you look at each of these images from two distinctly different ends of life's journey you can learn something about yourself and who we are as a people.
